                                      FMS FOR JETS
   The RMS includes five-axis CNC machines which are controlled by special units. Supervisory control is provided by a computer which is linked to the mainframe computer for scheduling and NC data.
    Tools are automatically supplied to the machines by the three vehicle AGV system which transports both pallets of parts and tool chains holding 25 tools.
    As well as the five machining centres the AGV system service coordinate measuring machine and an automatic washing machine. The system also includes two 10-pallet carousels each incorporating two load/unload stations with 90° tilt and 360 rotation.
    The centralised chip/coolent recovery system has a dual flume so that two different materials can be machined simultaneously without mixing the chips.
    Through the use of the FMS, queue times have been reduced from eight weeks to two weeks and machining times cut by more than a third.

    Flexible manufacturing line consists of a horizontal station centre and a vertical station centre in a row. In between there are line pallet transfer unit and a pallet return conveyor.
    The machine design is emphasized on easy workpiece transfer, heavy-duty cutting, and complete chip disposal. All of them are answered by spindle movements in X, У and Z axes and fixed workpiece location; a slant-type slide table of rigid structure: and a large coolant bucket put along the Z-axis slideways.

                      FLEXIBLE MACHINING CENTRE
    It is a five-surface machining centre. It mounts two spindle heads and a combination table to realize high productivity and different types of workpiece cutting at one setup.
    To keep each spindle head cool, a cylindrical roller and a high-speed angular slide are combined in the spindle bearing. Spindle speeds are provided by a 15-KW ac motor for each spindle in 20-2,100 rpm. The 50-tool-capacity АТС selects tools at bidirectional, random method.

                                     CMC LATHE
   A new CNC series designed to finish completed parts from bar-stock in a shorter cycle time has been developed. The sub-spindle and revolving tools can be equipped in addition to the independently controlled twin turret slides. Both upper (6 stations) and lower (12) turrets handle workpieces on the main spindle simultaneously using 4-axis control.
         Secondary operation can be simultaneously performed during the first machining on the main spindle with no interference. The 45° slant bed permits better chip flow and easy access to the turrets.

    WORKLOAD1NG WHILE MACHINING. WITHOUT PALLETS    Pallet exchange is not the only method that enables work to be loaded clear of the machining zone while metal is being cut. One alternative is a fixed clamping table providing two or more workpiece positions, and a single cutting spindle which shuttles under numerical control between them.
    This is the basis on which a new twin-table machining centre is designed. The main advantage of the design is that the table can be used as two independent workholding stations or jointly as one long table. It also gives rigidity for high metal removal rates.
    A different approach to workholding while machining is found on the recently introduced four-spindle horizontal machining centre. The worktable for this machine is a large indexable square-section beam supported at its ends in horizontal bearings. The beam is positioned immediately in front of the four spindles and beneath the 60-place plate-type tool magazine.
    Work can be mounted on two opposite parallel faces of the beam. So four components can be machined while another four are loaded. Work can also be mounted on the upper and lower faces of the beam so that end faces can be machined. The beam can be indexed between the regular 90° positions in 1° increments to allow angular features to be machined.

                   EFFECTIVE FIXTURING SYSTEM
     A comprehensive and versatile modular fixturing system Comprises hundreds of precision standard parts which can be assembled in almost infinite variety to provide rigid and accurate fixturing systems and machine set-ups for milling, drilling, grinding, planing, turning, special-purpose machine operations, testing and inspection.
     The modular fixturing system reduces the "set-up time and down-time associated with low-volume production, particularly in fixturing for prototyping, development, pilot runs, spare parts and small-batch production. It is also effective where interim fixturing methods are required due to anticipated design changes in the early stages of component production, even when eventual mass production will require permanent fixturing.
      Repeatability of reference points and precise positioning of fixtures on the machine tables make the system well-suited for pallet-change systems and standard or tandem machining programs on CNC and conventional machine tools.
